Did you love watching Salman Khan’s latest superhit movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan? You also really moved by the story that a little speech-impaired girl from Pakistan finds herself in India with no way to return home and how a common Indian man helped her to reunite with her family in Pakistan.
The success of the movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan gave high hope to a 23 year old Indian woman, Geeta, who has been stuck in Pakistan ever since she accidentally crossed over as a child, of finding her family in India. Her story is somewhat similar to Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Geeta was only nine when she mistakenly crossed into Pakistani territory. Punjab Rangers personnel took her to the Edhi Foundation in Lahore before she was moved to a home in Karachi.
“For years, we have been trying to locate her family or her hometown,” the Edhi Foundation said.
Recently her case was drawn attention of External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj, who has asked Indian ambassador to personally go and meet her in Karachi.
I have asked Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr TCA Raghavan to go to Karachi with Mrs Raghavan and meet this girl.
