Of course, what they don’t really prepare you for is the extreme sleep deprivation, the explosive poos, and the hours spent just trying to leave the house.
Which is where Scottish illustrator Lucy Scott comes in. She had her first child in 2012 and, despite her extensive pre-baby planning, she admits ‘nothing prepared her for the momentous task of caring for this new little person’. Her new book Doodle Diary of a New Mom, is an ‘illustrated journey through one mommy’s first year,’ and it’s brutally, and hilariously, honest.
